The Arden Lake Alligators Swim Team consists of 90 to 100 swimmers, from both within the Arden Lake community and surrounding communities. It is located in Kennesaw, GA on Shiloh Rd. between Bells Ferry Rd, and Frey Rd. (1 mile from Kennesaw State University)

Swimmers range from age 5 -18 and comprise all skill levels from novice to scholarship-bound. We also have a rookie team that is designed for swimmers ages 3-5 who are learning how to swim. Swimmers will learn the four basic strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly) and gain confidence in the water. They practice Monday-Friday, and will compete in 5 swim meets against local neighborhoods. Their events will be individual and relays. The swimmers earn ribbons after each meet to keep track of their progress throughout the season. We wrap up the season with a party full of food, games, and awards. Comes join us for a fun summer!

What is the Rookie Team?

Arden Lake has a branch of the team designed just for "rookies." This team is made for those swimmers who are 3-5 years old and are eager to start swimming OR for older swimmers who are not yet comfortable swimming a lap of the pool, but are eager to learn. Our rookie team has experienced coaches who enjoy working with young kids and who teach the basic principles of swimming.

How is the Rookie Team different from the Swim Team?

The rookie team practices every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Arden Lake pool. These practices are designed for young or beginner swimmers to learn the foundations of swimming. Rookies do not participate in the 5 regular season swim meets due to age limitations. They do, however, have a separate swim meet before each home meet where they earn their own ribbons and times.

How do I know which team is best for my child?

Registration for the rookie team and the swim team are one in the same.  Swimmers who are younger than 5 years old MUST swim on the rookie team as per county rules and regulations. If your swimmer is older than 5 and can comfortably swim across the length of the pool without assistance of the wall or lane lines, the swim team is a better fit.  If a swimmer is still in the beginning stages of learning how to swim, the rookie team is a great option.  Coaches generally will determine if a swimmer is better suited for the rookie team or the swim team, and would be happy to help you with this decision during the first weeks of practice. If a swimmer over the age of 5 begins the season on the rookie team, they are able to move up to the swim team at any point throughout the season if coaches find this more appropriate.
